"We need to talk about Composition"

Mini Dialogue Series | Part - 01
From Sandatharaka Abeysinghe

A composition method that I generally use in my works is the "Dynamic Diagonal". This has gradually developed and evolved from the great Baroque tradition. The composition here is built using the line formed when the diagonals of the frame connect.

In addition, this method can be made more complex and interesting through the relevant mathematical geometric theories. That complex situation is simplified again and it is to some extent reconnected with more famous composition methods like the "Rule Of Thirds" and the "Golden Ratio".

As it continues to grow, notice how the main elements of the painting are handled along the lines AB and CD.

The lines AB and CD are connected perpendicular to the main diagonal line and that is an important point here. And if we want to take this further theoretically, however, I would like to stop here. It will be easier to understand this. Since this is our first part, I think it is best to stop at such a simple place. More on that later...
